Bachata videos by Juan Ruiz

Juan seems to mix a few different styles, zouk, exotic, salsa, tango into his bachata and to come up with his own brand called "Bachata Moderna". He's coming to Singapore to teach Bachata in end Jul/early Aug through en-motion dance school. I must say I've got got concerned after watching the videos, the moves look a little too sexy for me personally to express through dance, but he has good musicality. In anticipation of his coming, here are some videos of his Bachata videos.

Well,

The most important technique in salsa dancing aside from the foot, hip and body swings and turns, is the ability of the body to dance to the music and improvise gracefully. Salsa is not about the steps borrowed from rumba, or anywhere else, what is critical is how to make a free flowing movement around an Afro-Latin-beat music. And the more eccentric and improvised it is, the more beautiful it gets. So don't forget to improvise and patent your own moves.

Hola Pies felices,

I personally like the Bachata but as danced in Dominican Republic and Puerto Rico. It is more traditional and not that sexual, like the new styles spread on other countries. What i see is that Bachata, Salsa, Merengue and other dancing styles has evolved and will continue so in what you see nowadays. That's valid as long as people enjoy it. But for me it our Caribbean music and dancing is a socio-cultural thing attached to my soul. It is a way to see and interpret life.

I am not sure if you'll be able to see the video on the link, but hope so!. Enjoy it and keep dancing.
